Dear Family, Friends, and People who stumble upon this letter,
This week has been amazing! I don't have a lot of time today, but I will give a quick summary of the week.
We met a paranoid old man on Thursday and we had a good discussion with him. Up until the point when he told us to look something up on youtube and we had to tell him we didn't have a computer. From there it was a downward spiral, and he ended up lecturing us for not realizing that we're part of a cult and the church is narrowing our view by forcing us to be separated from our families and limiting our access to technology. We explained that we're not out here for our families, we're out here to bring people unto Jesus Christ. He freaked out some more and told us that he didn't want to be a part of our cult and to go away. We started to, and then he started lecturing us again. This happened multiple times, and eventually I told him good night and we walked away.
That was the first time I've ever been in an intense discussion like that. And the hard part was he wasn't listening to what we were saying. It was like I was talking to a brick wall that kept turning my words against me. Apparently this guys house was marked as a Do Not Contact in the Area Book. I think I'll make sure there isn't anybody who would shoot us for coming up the driveway.
We talked to a Gangbanger on Tuesday and we had a good discussion with him. He had his bling on and his supersized white T-shirt over his low-riding pants. He said we could stop by if his car was there. Then we got to see some white guy get beat up by a big black guy as we were driving away. Crazy stuff was going down. When we came back later, there were 6 Police cruisers and a tow truck. So something went down after we left. I'm glad we left before any harm could have come to us.
We got a new investigator on Sunday! She's golden! Her boyfriend is in Indiana, and he's a member. He's been talking to her and introducing her to the church. She told him that she was coming to church on Sunday and he was super excited. He told her to look for the guys in suits and ties with nametags on, and we would be able to show her around. She had a great time and she wants to meet with us later tonight! So we have our first lesson today, and I am full of hope that she'll be baptized soon!
I also caught some fish on Saturday when we were at a member's house for dinner. They have a lake behind their house and they let me go fishing! I caught 6 fish, but they were a bunch of little Bluegillls. The biggest one was 7 inches. They have some very sharp spines in their fins! They said they were going to put some catfish in there soon. Hopefully I'm here when they do, cuz I want to catch some!
I love ya'll! Have a delightful week!
