Dear Family, Friends, and Whoever ends up reading this email...
This week has been fun. We've been driving around and visiting people in 8 inches of snow everywhere, and then from Friday to Sunday we got irregular bursts of freezing rain! Yesterday, it warmed up towards the evening, and then dropped to 4 degrees, quickly freezing all of the slush in the roads... WHICH IS WHY TODAY IS SO MUCH FUN!
Not really. It's making it hard to get around, but God has blessed us with a truck that can take us just about everywhere. Which gets me in trouble with the members, who live out in the boonies, when we show up at their door to check up on them. The constant stream of members telling me it's not safe to drive, or it's too dangerous to get to their house, is pretty funny to hear. But the alternative pastime that the members would rather have us do in this terrible weather, is stay in our apartment. And for everyone who knows me really well... You know that I do not like staying put. Much to the behest of our members (and Zone Leaders), we've been out pulling people out of ditches and chopping down trees to make firewood to keep people warm (I had fun chopping down the trees).
Which is why we have been out visiting a Member who lives 20 miles out in Mark Twain National Forest, and we have to drive along a road that was forged between trees over 6-8 inches of snow and ice. She's been unable to get out for water and food all week, so we've been filling up 5 gallon water containers and taking her food that the members give us. She was out of wood on Saturday, so I chopped down a tree and now she has plenty of firewood to last her until we go out there again on Tuesday/Wednesday.
In other news, I got a new companion. His name is Elder H. He's 19 and has only been out for 5 months.
Y'all have a good week! Stay safe, and stay warm!
