Dear Family & Friends,
I am doing great! We had a baptism on Saturday, and it went great! We baptized a woman named C*****. She is a great person, and she has a unique personality. She's been taught by the missionaries for the past 5 months, but she never got baptized because she's deathly afraid of water. When I came into the area, she was starting to become disinterested in the church. We talked with her (and taught her) a for a short while, and I told her about how Fear can stop our Eternal Progression, and I guess she liked me better than the last missionaries. I told her:
Fear is not from God. Fear is from Satan. Fear is one of the tools he uses to control us and manipulate us into avoiding something we need to do. It stops us from making and achieving goals, and it cages our hearts from flying like the angels we are destined to become.
She loved what I said and she overcame her Fear of water. She was baptized yesterday and when she came back out of the water, she was sputtering and spitting water. But she was so happy! She was smiling and being super bubbly and happy.
One really cool thing that happened on Sunday:
I was called to teach the lesson on baptism. So I was teaching, and I was barely looking at the Gospel Principles book, and it was going great! All the members were involved in the lesson, and I was teaching a great discussion until I saw a woman stand up and begin to speak...
She said, "I've never been to a Mormon church before, and I've only heard a small bit about your church. But..."
This woman pulled a worn & tattered Ensign out of her bag, the front & back cover was missing, and as tears began to fill her eyes, she said, " I found this a couple years ago, and I didn't know where it had come from. I have read it many times, and I know that what it says is true. I've been listening to you preach, and I know in my heart that what you're saying is true. Will you teach me more?"
At this point, most of the members in this Gospel Principles class were in tears as well. To my astonishment, they began to teach to this woman and bear their testimonies to her. They made it a very big point that the person who could teach her the most, were the missionaries (us).
This woman is now a Investigator. We will be meeting with her on Wednesday, and we'll see how that goes!
