Dear Family & Friends,
This week has been a mad rush and a blur to do many different things.
Monday was pretty fun. We got to play volleyball as a District for 4 hours. We kept swapping people between teams, but no matter what team I was on my team always won. Finally, my Zone Leader (who is very competitive) decided he wanted to be on my team permanently. But my companion, Elder S (who is very competitive as well), refused to be on my team. He was trying so hard to prove that He was better at volleyball than me. He was diving for the ball whenever I spiked it, leaping as high as he could to block my spikes. He ended up getting really bad burns on his elbows and his knees (the gym in our church has carpet flooring).
On Tuesday I went on a Companionship exchange with Elder D in the Salem area. I got a cool cowboy hat, but I was unable to get a sweet pair of boots. I plan on getting some before I leave this area.
Wednesday and Thursday were boring and uneventful. Nobody was home, nobody wanted to talk to us. I heard, "Ya stupid Mormons! Go away!" so many times. I felt a little down about it, but I know that I shouldn't take it to heart. I choose whether or not to be happy! It's my choice to learn how to become a better person from this mission!
Friday, we got to teach that wonderful lady from our Gospel Principles on Sunday. We taught her the Restoration, and she believes everything we taught her. We decided to teach her the Word Of Wisdom, and it was a little rough. But she agreed to stop drinking Coffee & Tea! She agreed to be baptized, and she is set to be baptized on the 7th of June!
Sunday, we got dropped by an investigator who was going to get baptized on June 17. We don't know why she doesn't want to meet with us anymore, and she won't tell us anything. I hope she changes her mind someday.
In other news...
My companion in the MTC, has been having a rough time out in a brand new area that was opened up the day we got in the mission field. There were only 12 members in the area, and I guess they were 'shotgunning' the area. Basically, they went from door to door trying to find investigators. When I saw him at Zone Conference, all he wanted was an "Elder Hegsted Hug". I guess he's been having a really hard time coping with the rejection from all of the doors he knocks on. I guess he couldn't take it anymore, cuz he emailed one of the sisters in my district and told her that he is at home now.
I can only hope and pray that God will give me the strength to overcome the hardship and trials that I will face. I know that God will give me just enough strength to prevail over my weaknesses, and that I have to work hard to make up the difference.
I love all of you!
