Dear Family & Friends,
This Week has been a rough one. But I pulled through!
Monday: We played Volleyball all day. My team beat Elder S's team (4 wins - 2 losses). I'm so grateful that I had an opportunity to exercise and get to know my district better.
Tuesday: Today was fantastic! We went to our Chinese Investigators' house and ate dinner. We ended up staying for 2 hours, and had a blast learning Chinese/teaching English. My Chinese name is Haiguzu, Lao Hu. We had a great laugh when Elder S tried to say, "Sho'hwong de ren." But he said, "Sho'hwong de Y__."
Sho'hwong de ren - means: someone who lies
Sho'hwong de Y__ - means: Y__ is a liar
Y__ is one of our investigators, and she was startled that Elder S said that! She said, "Elder S I am not a liar! Why you call me liar???" Everyone started laughing super hard, and Elder S looked really sheepish.
Wednesday: It was a really boring day, except for the fact that we nearly got hit by a car as we went to drive through a green light. I got the impression to stop, which is weird at a green light, but I did anyway, and not 2 seconds later a green jeep came hurtling through the intersection. I know exactly who told me to stop, and I am grateful to have the Holy Ghost in my life protecting me from harm.
Thursday: We had a fantastic dinner at some recent converts' house. During which they tried to sell their daughter to us for a quarter! She got a little upset and threw kool-aid in her mom's face, which instigated a food fight consisting of ketchup, mayo, mustard, and pickles. I think it's really interesting that the mother said that she would rather her daughter marry a missionary than "any other person". I guess they really like the missionaries.
Friday: We had a Zone Training Meeting today, but that was boring and unimportant (not really, I learned a lot about how I need to apply better habits in my teaching). Anyways, I caught an Armadillo at the Stake Center where we were meeting. Sadly I didn't get a picture of it, cuz it flailed around a lot and I dropped it. I ran after it, but those things are fast! That was the first time I saw a live Armadillo. All the other ones were roadkill. Apparently, they are easy to catch because they have bad eyesight. That is also why they get hit by cars.
Saturday: We got to go to the temple again with another of our Recent Converts! I am so grateful for the many opportunities I am given to go there!
Sunday: it was uneventful.
I know that God is watching out for all of us. I love all of you!
Love, Elder Hegsted
