Dear Family & Friends,
This week has been kinda nasty. Between me being super sick, and the crazy storms that have been going on all week, I am really tired today!
Update on the housing situation: We do have an apartment lined up for us to move into on the 6th. We are currently staying with a great member named M. He is an ER doctor, so he's usually gone for parts of the week. He's been super kind to us while we've been staying with him. He has even gone and bought us some groceries while he was away! He has a friend coming to stay with him on the 30th, so we will be staying in another member's empty house until the 6th.
So here's a painful thing that happened on Saturday
We were running from our last appointment's apartment to our car, there was a torrential downpour and it was flooding pretty badly that night. The street was a raging river, so we were running to the car across a flooded lawn trying to stay underneath our umbrellas. As I got closer to the car, I took a shorter step and started to slip. So I brought my left leg forward to try and catch myself, but my knee got turned sideways and I felt a grinding sensation as more weight was being put on it. I could feel my Femur shifting out of my knee joint and I felt stabbing pain that was getting more intense.
I let myself fall forward and I landed on the sidewalk. My knee got whacked on the ground and I felt my femur pop back into place. I slid for a little ways and then bumped into the car. I laid there for a moment, catching my breath and letting the cold water flow around me to sooth my aching body.
Elder C ran over to me and held the umbrella over me (which was a kind gesture, even though I was soaking wet and laying in a stream of water). I caught my breath, stood up, flexed my left leg, and we left! My knee doesn't hurt too bad. It could feel better, but it's slowly getting there.
We had to drive around a bunch of areas, on our way back to where we are staying, because the flooding was so severe out here. There was one place that had the water rise 2 feet above the usual level! It flooded a bunch of houses, and a ton of people got stuck in their cars.
I'm so grateful that we were able to make it home safely.
I love y'all! Have a great week!
