Dear Family & Friends,
I am sorry that I haven't been very good at writing. I've been super tired and not really feeling like sending emails to people. I know that is very selfish of me, and I going to stop it!
It's been a really rough month, and I just realized I've been out for 7 months! That just flew by! I didn't even stop to check when my 6 month mark was! I totally missed it and that bothers me a little! I am 1/4 of the way home, and that is a little frightening. The next thing I know, I'll be sitting on an airplane going home!
Anyways, I have a bunch of stories to tell you guys...
We have been helping one of our members build his house for a while now, and we've hit a point where the major things that need to be done are too hard for 3 guys to do by ourselves. So, we've been doing small projects around the house until we can get more helpers; putting up a staircase, putting up a crossbeam to support the 2nd floors framework, and... digging a trench to divert water coming down the hill.
Well... to be more specific, I dug a trench in the pouring rain because I had become bored as the member & my companion were doing a 2 man job. I had a blast doing it! I had the water going at an angle so it went down a ravine into a stream. I got excited because I found a bunch of big rocks, and I used those rocks to form a dam. I left a small gap in the rocks to keep the pond from overflowing and eventually pushing the rocks downstream.
I went back to the pond a couple weeks later and caught a bunch of frogs (6), a lizard, and a toad. My companion had a little bit of a jump when he went to take a shower and there was a bunch of little critters chilling in the bathtub. He made me put them back outside...
We also did a service project for a member's Eagle Project. But I am out of time, so I will tell you about that next week when I am in my new area "Mountain View, Missouri!"
Love Ya'll!
